6 Tbsp. butter (melted)
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 cup raisins
Use on Foundation Sweet Dough.

1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 cup raisins
Use on Foundation Sweet Dough.
Pastry Recipe
Mix together:
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Pour into measuring cup:
1/2 cup wesson oil
1/4 cup cold milk
Pour all at once into flour.
Stir until mixed.
Place between two sheets of waxed paper and roll.
Boiled Raisin Cake
Cook until tender (30 minutes):
2 cups raisins
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 cups water
Add 1/2 cup shortening and cool.
Add:
1 tsp. soda dissolved in 1 Tbsp. water.
Stir in 2-2 1/2 cups flour.
Add 2 tsp. vanilla.
Bake 350’F 45 minutes.

Poor Man’s Pie
Doris Blaser lived with Emma for a year after they were first married before
they moved to Salt Lake. Emma taught her these recipes.
Pie dough – rolled out.
Put cinnamon and sugar on dough.
Add milk or cream or add fresh apple – salt and cinnamon and sugar. Bake.
Sonobia used to cook for Vena and Walter Draughon. This is Sonobia’s recipe for Sweet Potatoes.
To baked mashed sweet potatoes add:
Sugar
Nutmeg
Butter
Milk
Tbsp. flour
Bake in 350’F oven.
My mother, Doris Blaser, was raised in Durham, North Carolina.
She has this recipe of her mother’s (Vena Draughon) for Corn Meal Bread.
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cups meal
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk or water
Use a teaspoon corn oil and a Tablespoon Butter mixed.
Bake in pie pans or muffin pans.
Bake 400’F.
Directions
Put some mayonnaise – 2 or 3 heaping Tablespoons in a small bowl.
Add a little bit of prepared mustard – about a teaspoon.
Add a little canned milk.
Add 1 teaspoon sugar.
Stir and add to chopped lettuce just before serving.
